PIZZANO, CHARLES - Sculptor. Born Torre Le Nocelle, Avellino, Italy, Jan 23, 1893. Son of Leopoldo Pizzano and Filomena Capone. In U.S. since 1905. Attended the North Bennett Industrial School and Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. Studied drawing under Prof. Benedictis and sculpture under Angelo Lualli for 14 years. Directed the Pizzano Studio in Boston for five years. Among his numerous outstanding works in the filed of art are at: Washington Cathedral, St. Mark's Church, Pittsfield; St. Peter's Church, Dorcester; Grace Church, White Plains, N.Y.; Jesuit College, Weston, Mass; Newton City Hall; Christian Science Publishing Bldg., Boston etc. Married Emma Ciampa of Boston, Oct. 18, 1919. One daughter, Philomena, graduate of Medford High School and attended Boston University College of Music. Member: Sons of Italy. Fond of hiking, fishing, travel and nature study. His father who came to the U.S. in 1900, settled in Chelsea as engineer contractor. Res: 33 Cedar Rd., Medford.
