SAFEST WAY HOME - The 38 foot police boat John F. Kennedy is a sure bet to be safer than the 20 foot long hunk of dock which these boys were riding down the Charles River Wednesday afternoon. The rescue was made after the boys made about a 100 yard trip which ended under the North Washington Bridge. The boys, all from Charlestown are, from left, Jay MacClay, 8; Kevin Doody, 11, and Alan Warner, 11. The rescue force included patrolman John Madden, left and Mario Bevilacqua of Station 8. A fourth boy, Robert Hallowell, 11, was taken ashore by police at the bridge.
Mario, 1927-1997, was the son of Nicola Bevilacqua and Maria Giulia Musto.
