PIAZZANO, FILOMENO: Proprietor of Pizanno Hardware Co., 351 Broadway, Revere. Born Torre le Nocelle, Avellino, Italy, March 27, 1882. Son of Salvatore Pizzano and Angela Rotondi. Educated in the public schools of his native town. Came to America in 1902, settling in Chelsea. Studied designing and drawing. Was in contracting business for 20 years. In the hardware business since 1922. Married Elisa Bevilacqua, June 6, 1902. Children: Salvatore; Angelo, manager of father’s store; Fred, a graduate of Chelsea High School, was member varsity football team, now sergeant in U.S. Air Corps, as chief radio instructor; Giorgiana; Phyllis and Charles. Mr. Pizzano is interested in civic affairs and gives his services freely to any worthy cause. Member: Kiwanis Club; Torrese Society; past governor of the Moose; chairman of Troop 41, Boy Scouts of Revere, on Scouts Committee and member of Scouts Board of Review. Has travelled extensively throughout the U.S., and Canada, and Italy. Res.: 30 Summit Ave., Chelsea.

  1. I remember going into Pizzano's as a child. It was on Broadway at the intersection with Winthrop Avenue. I think the first time I heard the word "paisan" was regarding the Pizzano's.
